A lot of cat owners face the problem of their cat developing bad knots and tangles due to their long fur. This can be quite painful for the cat. But ever wondered why this problem occurs in the first place?
What happens when we don't brush our hair regularly? Knots and tangles with excessive hairfull, right? Same is the case with cats.
You need to brush your cat regularly so that such problem does not occur at all.
However, if the problem has occured already, then you need to take your cat to the vet and get all the knots cut. DO NOT try doing this yourself because the knots could be close to your cat's skin, and only an experienced person could do this job carefully.
In this situation, DON'T even think of giving your cat a bath. It will make matters worse!

Things to Avoid
- Don't give your cat unnecessary meals in between, or you'll end up spoiling their habits, as well as health.
-Don't fulfill every demand of your cat, and stop them if they are being too demanding.
-Don't allow your persian cat to go out of the house that often as they are very sensitive and can catch germs.
-Avoid giving cat biscuits to your persian cat, since they are very dangerous for their health and can take away their life, specially in hot countries like Pakistan.
-Avoid giving them milk (unless you mix it with water) or they'll end up having an upset stomach.

Train Your Persian Cat
To train and groom your persian cat you need a lot of patience and time. When you bring your cat home for the first time, he/she will want to explore the whole house to get familiar and comfortable with it so you should give your cat the space to do that.
Set a time table for your cat to have food and drink, and avoid giving extra meals in between. Two meals a day for an adult cat is good enough. But if it is a kitten you will have to leave food out there so that your kitten can have it whenever he/she is hungry.
Pregnant cats need extra food and calcium so provide food to your pregnant cat whenever she asks for it.
You also need to train your cat to go to the litter box to avoid mess in the house. Persian cats are smart and they pick habits easily. Once you show them the litter box, they will know that this is where they need to go.
Remember one thing! The more you pamper your cat, the more you will spoil them, and they will end up scratching your sofa if they don't get what they want, or wake you up in the middle of the night. If they are doing something wrong or being too demanding, they need to be stopped.
Remember persian cats are just like human babies, hence you need to handle them that way. A shout, clapping of hands, hitting them on their tail with a newspaper, or a slap on their head will make them realize their mistake.
Grooming is important too. Since persian cats usually have long silky hair, you need a steel comb for them to brush them everyday in order to avoid knots and hairfall.
You also need to clean their ears and cut their nails every now and then to keep them tidy and clean. Ears can be cleaned using cotton and nails with the normal nail cutter. If you feel you cannot take this responsibility, then take your cat to the vet every week to get the ears and nails done.
Also get your cat vaccinated. Consult the nearby vet for vaccination.
Give your cat a bath once in a week with the cat shampoo that is easily available in any store nearby. Remember, cats are scared of water, so be careful when you're giving your cat a bath, and keep a separate towel for your cat to dry them after the bath is given.
Also make sure you give your cat some toys to play with, or your cat will become clumsy. It is important to keep your cat active and playful, since they too need everyday exercise to stay healthy.
Last but not the least, give them all the love and attention you can. Persian cats are very sensitive and feel neglected if you dont give them enough time.
